last week, we had the wonderful opportunity to spend time with ben, shauna & the boys for a few days. in fact, elijah and sam even spent two of their three nights with us! we had a great time filled with rock band, star wars video games, movies, and fun playtime. more importantly, we got to see how much these boys are growing and learning everyday. elijah is so smart and intuitive to everyone around him. sam is further cultivating his sense of humor and looks to his big brother for constant confirmation. asher is becoming his own personality in the family and is definitely a daddy's boy. i miss seeing them on an almost daily basis, but it just makes visits like this even sweeter. we pray nightly for elijah, sam, asher, and our other nephews and niece, jonah, emma, joe & miles. we are so thankful for them all and the opportunity we have to be their uncle lee and aunt lindsey.
amidst the fun and craziness of last week, we happen to catch a few moments with the boys in picture and video! hope you enjoy!
and this is what it is like to have an uncle lee...
(p.s.- please ignore our sad, bare walls....we are moving in two months and will have much better looking walls)

off day = golf day
friday was a weather day for lee and became a vacation day for me. upon my suggestion, lee decided to play golf and, i joined him. an important note to mention here: i do not play golf, but i have mad score-keeping and golf-cart driving skills. so, we set out for a 10:04 tee time on a beautiful day. my only performances of the day came on the driving range for two VERY ugly "drives" (one of which only went maybe 20 feet slightly airborne to the extreme left). lee, on the other hand, played a solid 18 holes. he was mostly pleased with his performance by the 18th hole, i think, and he did much better on the back nine than the front nine. lee taught me what to do and not to do on the course. by the end, the sun was out and the wind was gone. it was a perfect, sunny day and we had the sunburn to prove it. i tried to get some nice action shots, but maybe this will be the start of a fun past-time we can do together and i can take even more. here are the ones from friday:
this is lee's attempt to line up his putt similarly to camillo "spiderman" villegas...nice form, huh?!
by the way...who out there has heard of and/or eaten a boston butt? you know, the huge hunk of pork that people often sell as a fundraiser? just curious if it really is just an alabama thing since lee had never heard of nor tasted one until this weekend...

sister, sister
as promised, i do have a couple of pictures picture and another post, and i did not even wait almost 2 weeks this time!
last weekend my sister came for the weekend. we went to the movies with some of mine and lee's friends (girl movie and guy movie, respectively), we took her to a yummy mexican restaurant here in tuscaloosa, got some delicious TCBY (she does not have one anymore in prattville), and had some good hang out time. the list of activities is pretty slim because it rained ALL day saturday. luckily, she said she had a good time and we had a great time having some rachel time, as well.
rachel has grown into a beautiful young woman who has more boldness about her faith than i ever could have imagined at her age. she has a great smile and welcomes all she meets with it, treating them like she's known them forever. she is wonderful with little children and passionate about what she believes in. she is an auburn fan (hey, no one is perfect). she is my sister and i love her.

***important note*** i equally love my brother, but his post will be another time :)

writer's block
i have come to the conclusion that my 10+ day lapse in blogging is due to writer's block. well, at least writer's block in my sense of the term. all i have done for the past two weeks is my literature review for my research proposal for grad school. almost every ounce of writing ability has gone into that colossal annoyance and anything left has gone into the work i have on a regular basis for my actual classes. i have a deadline on this phase of the proposal and that deadline is tomorrow so i feel a break in the clouds of my foggy brain coming and silly details of our life pouring into the blog oh so soon.
------------------
p.s. - we have a few pictures and videos that may make an appearance on the blog soon. my sister may also be paying us a visit this weekend, and i will be sure to document her visit to tuscaloosa...aka her favorite place ever! (side note: she is an auburn fan and will be attending auburn in the fall...tuscaloosa is not even on her list of favorite places except for the fact that it is our current location of residence)
------------------
a random side note: "the weather according to lee"
i love my husband, but we have quickly come to realize that we can be sitting in the same room and have extremely different takes on the temperature of that room. if lee is comfortable, i am freezing. if i am comfortable, lee is hot. without fail. however, this does not simply apply to the temperature inside a room. our polar opposite temperature gauges cover inside AND outside temps. therefore, you think i would have learned by now that just because lee leaves in a short-sleeved shirt and says he will be fine for the day without a jacket does not mean i should do the same. in his defense, at 3 o'clock yesterday the accuweather said today would easily reach 66 or so. i think the high for today is now only about 60. awesome. so what do i have on today? a short-sleeved shirt and flip-flops (with pants, of course). i have a rain jacket but it is not exactly insulating to the cool breeze outside. maybe i have learned my lesson. maybe. lee is probably perfectly comfortable today :)p.s. - we have a few pictures and videos that may make an appearance on the blog soon. my sister may also be paying us a visit this weekend, and i will be sure to document her visit to tuscaloosa...aka her favorite place ever! the snowstorm of 2009
yes, the weather guy on tv called it a snowstorm. but, hey! we live in alabama, and if the snow actually sticks and stays for a few hours, why not call it a snowstorm!?
as most who reside in the south, we were skeptical of the prediction of snow for today. i mean, it was not the first time the chance of snow was mentioned this winter so why would this time be any different? luckily, we were greatly mistaken. there was already snow on the bushes and trees when i unfortunately awoke at 6:45 this morning. what a shocker! i weighed my options of enjoying this little amount of snow or going back to sleep, and, if you know me, you know i chose sleep - hoping it would still be there when i woke up later. not only was it still there a couple of hours later, it continued to fall and eventually left a nice blanket of snow over everything!
an unusual way to welcome the month of march, but we'll take it!
this is all we thought we were going to get when we woke up...little did we know...
it was going to continue falling for another 2 hours! this picture does not do justice to the final accumulation, but it gives a pretty good depiction. through the trees to the left, publix is normally visible, but due to the thick snow and strong wind at the time, it was nowhere to be seen.
p.s. - by the time i finished this post, half of the snow was already melting away...oh well! it was fun and beautiful while it lasted
