what is better than baseball on a saturday in the spring?

according to lee, not much :)

...except maybe baseball on a sunday-friday in the spring, summer, and fall (yea, baseball season is long)

last saturday we got to spend a couple of hours at the ballpark watching jonah play t-ball. he is an awesome ball player, and he is part of a very fun and talented team. ***definition of fun and talented: one of his teammates at shortstop caught the ball and was told she needed to get the runner out so she turned around and THREW it at the runner.*** like i said, fun and talented.

jonah, just as his cousin in missouri who also already plays baseball, is full of natural talent and strength when it comes to baseball. you can see for yourself some of the talent oozing out of our nephew.

also, please note the support clearly given by his little sister. she is the one in pink flowers and lip gloss :)

lose it!

i am obsessed. there, i admit it.

even though i am not the actual primary user of the iphone that has recently made its way into lives, i fully admit that i try to use it as often as possible. i love the apps! my favorite time to play use it is when we are in the car because lee is driving and cannot use it. therefore, i take advantage of the perfect opportunity to play a little sudoku and word wrap or put in the meals i have eaten for the day.

are you now thinking it seems a little strange to input the meals i have eaten in each day into the beloved iphone? never fear, i have an explanation. lose it! has become my new favorite app, and the best thing about it is that it is free, ladies and gentlemen! it keeps count of daily calories and calories burned through exercise (p.s. - walking around the office or house counts as exercise! so does vacuuming! wow!)

sorry, i got a little carried away in my p.s. in my defense, i already told you i was obsessed.

back to the point of this random post....in the ten days i have used this app, i have really become more conscious of what i eat. if i splurge on a really good Zaxby's meal and then put in as one of my meals, i can see the insane amount of calories those tasty boneless wings & fries hold and i am a little less satisfied by the meal. ok, i lied. i am still completely satisfied by the meal...i just wish i could make about half the calories disappear. seriously, i hope a more conscious effort in keeping up with calories will actually put me on the right track towards losing a few pounds...because who doesn't love that?!

the masters

no clever title needed.

not until recently did i realize the "sacredness" of the masters and everything related to the masters. lee, mr joe, and i had the wonderful opportunity to attend the masters on saturday thanks to my great aunt and her husband. aunt marie and joey, along with joey's parents, have masters tickets. these tickets are extremely difficult to attain and are often only attainable after years of waiting.
all of that to say, we were extremely thankful for the experience and even more excited that lee's dad was able to go with us as well. the only downside for me was that actual tournament days do not allow cameras or cell phones so i could not take a picture of tiger or phil when they were 10 yards in front of us on the green of the 16th hole or of sergio garcia, rory mcilory, or trevor immelmen when they walked a foot in front of us to their next hole or even of the immaculate grounds of augusta. but it is all a wonderful memory that we can replay in our minds.
the weather was perfect, even though the sunburn hurts today. the course is unbelievably beautiful. the food is the cheapest of any major sporting event and tastes as good as anywhere else. the entire event is run extremely efficiently. the atheletes are even more awesome in person. the experience is totally worth it if ever given the opportunity, even if you are not an avid golf fan such as myself.

strikes and spares for everyone

we have made some great friends through our sunday school class and had a night at the bowling alley with a couple of them, adam and coriell, a couple of weeks ago. we also had a couple of new friends along for the night in lauren and emma.
speaking of emma, i think she found a new friend in lee. when i handed emma the camera, i had no idea she would become lee's personal paparazzi. by the end of the night, their once rocky friendship (via an unwanted shoutout to emma from lee at an earlier occasion) was mended and my memory card had about 30 new pictures of lee's victory dance moves after each frame. (by the way, emma is 7.)
we managed to convince emma to get a couple of pictures of the rest of us and let us take the camera from time to time...
