starting point softball

lee plays on our sunday school class's softball team. they have had a couple of wins and a lot of close, almost wins this season. tuesday night our class's two teams played each other...which was nice since either way, starting point (the name of our class) would win!

you can't involve sports and a church-related event with each other without including food so of course we made a tailgating experience out of it! although, is it still called a tailgate when the only food is cupcakes, cookies, cake, and muffins? :)

the game was an hour earlier than most of our games have been so it nice to have all the wives, mommies, and babies to cheer the guys on as well.

we are so thankful for our friends here in houston and in our class at champion forest. thanks for the laughs, great conversations, and much, much more. you guys and girls are wonderful!

texas in the spring

ah, springtime. in texas, springtime means, in part, the short-lived beauty of bluebonnets. these gorgeous wildflowers on bloom and stay in bloom for a fairly short period of time. but beware when they are out, drivers slow down, families stop to take pictures, and everyone seems a little bit happier :)

this year was my first experience in seeing them in full bloom. in the past, i have only seen the last few or first few but missed the grand experience. we stopped on the way back from college station a couple of weeks ago, and i took a few shots. none of us though because we were not exactly ready for a photo session...maybe another time.

disc golf

a couple of weekends ago, i had my first experience at disc golf while we were in college station. lee, katy, and some of their friends played a good bit in college. we actually had a disc golf course at pine cove for the families to play, but i never learned then.

i wasn't very good in my opinion, but we still made most of it...even after each of our discs went into the trees more than once. apparently, a disc golf disc curves a bit more than a regular frisbee. i think i would like to play again sometime to further hone these new skills of mine.

anyone else ever played?i spy katy. can you?we found this little guy and another one of his friends on the first couple of holes.so, apparently i look like i am about to take flight after i release the disc

in a galaxy far, far away...

joe and miles had a star wars birthday party! with everything star wars-themed, we all enjoyed a fun-filled saturday that began with finger foods, presents, cookie cake, and the inflatable slide. i think just about everyone went down the slide...one is never too old for an inflatable slide. :)after a little r & r, we all gathered back together for crawfish and johnny's pizza, more trampoline time, and bubbles for the kids. the men of the pilgreen and morrow families can tear up some crawfish. lee has found some competition in tim sullivan when it comes to just how much crawfish he can put away.

easter travels (better late than never!)

thanks to the humble isd giving april 1 and 2 as days off, we took a 4-day trip to alabama!

first stop (after several delays at the airport), tuscaloosa. i was able to meet with my advisor/mentor and determine a very tight but doable schedule towards graduating in may! *quick disclaimer* the lateness of this blog post and updating the 365 are due to all of my time and work that MUST be dedicated to finishing research work before my deadline.**

tuscaloosa also included a trip to city cafe for lunch! hooray! thank you, caitlin, for enjoying such a wonderful meal with me and taking some time out of your day (aka skipping class) to catch up. we were so thankful to stay the night with adam and coriell, but sadly, i never even saw them due to our late arrival and my meetings. i promise that won't happen the next time i'm in town, guys! lee, however, got to go to lunch with adam and coffee with ben lee, visit his old school, and do a little golf shopping while we were town.

after these whopping 11.5 hours in tuscaloosa, we headed to prattville. our time in prattville was filled with awesome home-cooked meals, shopping, movies, golf for the guys, awesome pre-easter lunch & egg hunt at maw's house, and a great (but quick) Easter sunday with the family. i even achieved the perfect Easter family picture!

check out my wonderful grandmother and the awesome spread of food we had for "Easter lunch"...
this is the best one i got of hunter and rachel. the boys were not cooperating with taking pictures...
...as you can see, ours was no easy matter either. there were many, many more besides this one until we got the good one below

rachel was the winner of the egg hunt. she found a whopping 15 eggs (second and third place for about 8 and 9 a piece) and two of the three prize eggs!
we took a golf-cart ride through the field and found this little friend!
here it is, the awesome first and only try, Easter family picture!
yay for family...we can't wait for the beach this summer!!!
