weekend update

our last trip of the summer was in lieu of GJ and Jonah's birthdays, which both happen to be august 11. the trip was packed with great food, awesome hangout time with the family in louisiana, swimming for the girls and younger kiddos, golf for the men (including jonah), and even a chance to catch up with some friends on sunday.

mr. joe and jonah are both very special to us. happy birthday to you both tomorrow! we hope this next year is filled with only wonderful times and memories for you both!

emma and joe rocked the pool the whole time we were there, while miles spent some of his non-water moments playing in the flowerbeds and enjoying the full-body tan before changing back into his diaper & clothes.

jonah is a natural when it comes to golf...and pretty much anything else he tries. an extremely talented and strong soon-to-be 7 year old, jonah was killing the ball nearly 140 yeards! i am sure he gave his dad, uncles, and GJ some good competition on the course.

per jonah's request, his birthday cake was actually a homemade pecan pie which was delicious! ever the outdoorsman, jonah received TWO fishing poles for his birthday (stay tuned for the results of their first use). the party was rounded off with a good ol' pinata busting. even miles enjoyed the candy fun.

like i said, the kid is a natural at everything he tries. first time out with the new poles, jonah and walter caught FIVE bass fish that i am sure was turned into a delicious dinner at the allen house last night.
