the alexanders go to houston (spring break, part 2)

all of the cleaning, laundry, and organizing paid off and was finished with time to spare as the crew from alabama pulled into town.

we introduced the fam to houston properly with dinner at pappasito's...because honestly, where else would we take them? after their long drive, that was all we planned for the first night so we could all be rested for the rest of the week.

thursday started off nicely with breakfast at le peep. we attempted to venture to the zoo, but apparently the rest of the city of houston wanted to go on thursday. there was no way we were getting in so we went back to westheimer and enjoyed the water wall and galleria. to make sure everyone could see all of their choices, we all made our way to the outlet mall in cypress and treated ourselves to a very nice shopping trip. thursday night brought a drive out to see our schools and dinner at saltgrass, which was not only a first for the family but also for me!with some strategic planning, we were successful in our trip to the zoo on friday morning. everyone had a lot of fun, and we were really excited all of the animals were out...although some of them were asleep after their big breakfast, it seemed. i think the favorites of the day were the elephants, giraffes, birds for rachel (right?!), and the reptile exhibit. we followed the zoo up with a drive through the campus of rice university which is shaded with beautiful oak trees and lined with gorgeous houses and buildings.
pappa's burgers was such a hit for lunch that it sent half of us into nice afternoon naps to gear up for guys' and girls' night. after the re-energizing, the guys left for the rockets/celtics game and the girls went out for pedicures, pizzas, and tutti frutti.
we loved having you guys out to visit, and we wish it could have been for longer! we are glad you got to see where we live and some of our favorite parts of houston. hope you enjoyed your time!
