maybe it is the lack of schedule in my summer life or the fact that i have been in multiple states since school ended for the summer and my travels are not even over yet...whatever it may be that has kept me away from updating, i apologize.
a prologue in any great novel is the setup for everything to come. it sets the the stage without giving too much away and leaves you wondering what is to come. think of this as the prologue to our summer :)
so for the few of you who care, here is a little taste of our summer so far...
shortly after lee and his truck parted ways for the last time, we loaded up the jeep and headed to louisiana on our first day of summer. that drive never fails to be incredibly boring. however, the end result is well worth it. 5 little smiling faces, their parents, and their GJ awaited us at the end of the drive. this little guy was not so much phased by our arrival as he found way too much fun playing in the mud by himself.
we were also in awe of how quickly this little one is growing. all her smiling and rolling over and almost independent sitting up is just too much.after a round of golf for the guys and shopping for some of the girls, we all enjoyed a yummy meal and were entertained by the kids in the pool at zach and erin's the next day. they created several games that all involved throwing themselves into the pool with no regard or feeling of the hard ground beneath them or whichever of the others may be around them. quite amusing to say the least.it is a shame that the drives to and from our families do not involve more thrilling sites and roadways. unfortunately, the drive from louisiana to alabama is no more exciting than the one from houston to louisiana. there is, of course, a happy ending to the drive further east as well but i do wish we could invent a way to just hop from one to the other.
never the dull moment in prattville either, we discovered that part of my parents' front porch had been knocked over by wild horses. i do not know which part of what i just typed is more odd. they technically were not truly "wild" but they had apparently been getting out of their fence a lot in recent days. their hoof marks (prints?) were evident on the porch, and even though they were not caught in the act of destroying the porch rail, they had been spotted in the yard at other times. no worries, though. the porch is fixed and the horses will not be coming around to bother it anymore.a new week meant seeing lee off to the airport so the next update will be pictures from alabama unless any pictures exist on lee's phone from san francisco. happy summer!
Wild inconsiderate reckless horses...
