first day of school

today was the first day of school in texas!

we are both teaching math. lee with math strategies at the middle school level, and I am teaching algebra II and math models at ahs for the second year. i keep meaning to take pictures of my very first classroom, but by the time i leave, i have a one-track mind on heading home. i promise to try really hard to take some. i remembered to take pictures while the kids were gone to lunch today! i actually like this better than if i'd taken a picture at the end of the day because you can see that work is being done (well, before and after lunch that is).i am excited for the opportunity to teach another year, and i hope that even those students who claim to not like math and think they are no good at math will dissolve those ideas and find even just one aspect of the course with which they can achieve success.

i guess i should also mention that i am the new freshmen cheerleading sponsor at my school! since i do not teach freshmen, this will be a neat experience for me to get to know a few of the freshmen girls. i am looking forward to being involved at the school outside of the classroom. go eagles!
