a day of "firsts"

katy came to visit this weekend, and today brought a set of "firsts" for both of us.

first, let me begin with katy's first. we went to get pedicures! that's right...it was katy's very first time to have a pedicure. she was quite skeptical at first and not so confident in my praises of how wonderful it feels. in the end, she said she enjoyed the overall experience...even though the girl doing her toes kept staring at her. here is our finished product:afterward, we took a trip to the galleria. i introduced katy to dylan's candy bar (which i guess is another "first" for her) and also talked her into getting a pair of new shoes she really wanted. they were on sale so why not?!

my "first" for the day followed at crave cupcakes. i have had great intentions MANY times to indulge in their cupcakes but either our events of a given day have not allowed it, our schedule has changed, or they were closed when we actually had the opportunity to try. however, katy and i made sure to not miss out on the perfect time this afternoon. we had both heard rave reviews about the cupcakes so we just needed to find out for ourselves. they definitely lived up to the hype...and even offered milk in a cold, classic milk bottle to wash it down with.
