a new chapter

if you are reading this, then you know where we are in life right now...moved to the san francisco bay area in july, lee began a new teaching job, he also started taking classes at golden gate baptist theological seminary (where we live), and i am staying at home investing in the life of our awesome son and anticipating the arrival of our baby girl.

even though we are nearly two months into life on the west coast, we are only two weeks into our new schedule of lee at work then class (some nights) and brendan and i at home.  even though he just recently turned two, i knew from the time we determined i would not be working that i wanted to make my time at home with brendan intentional.  this does not mean we have structured learning from 8-3 everyday, but it does mean that i wanted to take some of the things he is already interested in, focus on them in a deeper way, integrate Biblical lessons into those things, and not let us get caught up in watching another daytime talk show or netflix cartoon.

in planning for this time, i did take into account that i am about to have a baby and intentional learning times might be more like reading books, going on nature walks, or watching a few extra PBS shows during the first few weeks of harper's life.  after that though, we will finish out the fall with a few more lessons that will lead us right into the holiday season.

if you are interested, i will do my best to credit the sources from which i find my materials, but i have generally just done a pinterest search for whatever topic i was planning and have enjoyed utilizing the free library museum passes we have through the public library here.

if we do something you enjoy or you have an idea/project/craft/lesson you have done differently/better/along with what we do, PLEASE SHARE.  some people have already shared sites they use for preschool learning, homeschooling, Bible lessons, etc. and they have been wonderful resources!

*update after publishing* i think i may also use this new format of the blog to include what i am learning about patience, parenting, and teaching.  many friends and family members, near and far, have been very encouraging as i am learning how to spend my days with my little guy instead of in a math classroom with teen guys and girls.  thank you for your kind words.

won't you join me on this new journey...
